How to Solve The Biggest Problems With Hospitality

In the hospitality industry there are a variety of issues that can arise.  From labor and skill shortages to escalating construction costs, being in hospitality can be a hot bed of problems.  Below are some of the biggest issues in the hospitality industry and how they can be fixed.

Labor & Skills Shortages –When people stay at a hotel, especially a luxury one, they expect to get high-end, quality service, and when that expectation is not met, hotels can expect to see a major decline in sales.  The best way to fix this issue is to ensure your screening process for potential employees is top notch, including checking their references and running background checks for all departments.

High Renovation and Construction Costs – As the economy gets better or worse, depending on your opinion, construction and renovation costs have steadily grown.  While there is no quick fix to this particular issue, any hotels undergoing renovations or construction can ensure that they make a budget and stick to it.  This will help keep costs down as much as possible.

The Ever Changing Technology – Keeping up with the all the different and new technology options that consumers have can become very costly for a hotel.  The best option to fight this expensive cost is to ensure that the basics that all guests expect of their hotel selections, like free Wi-Fi, and guaranteeing the hotel gets the best packages available from the providers.

Future Hotel Profits
– As prices go up, hotels must also raise their prices, however, the higher their prices get, the less likely patrons are going to choose their establishment for the traveling needs.  A way to fix this issue is to ensure that the rates you charge your guests are at least competitive to the other rates being charged.

Ways to Make Your Hotel Renovation Go Smoothly

Successful renovation projects come about when all parties involved are aware of and have planned for all of the unique challenges that a renovation project can pose.

As a Hospitality Renovations company with considerable experience in the industry, Jaguar Hospitality has a few tips to help your hotel renovation run smoothly. The keys to ensuring a successful project are:

·         A clear vision and objective concerning the project
·         Clearly defined standards for the time, cost and quality of the project.
·         Linking the scope of the project directly back to the previously defined objective and performance standards

Tip #1: At the start of your renovation project it would be a good idea to work with your project manager to develop a reliable schedule that makes sense for your renovation.  That can mean including standards for any part of the renovation done during operating hours and/or standards for how to transition guest rooms in and of service.

Tip #2: Hiring qualified contractors that understand the work involved with your renovation process can be the difference between a successful renovation and a renovation that ends up going over budget.  An experienced contractor is also great because they have the experience to deal with any unexpected challenges.

Tip #3:  Make sure all standards, prior to starting the renovation project are clearly defined, including time, cost and quality. A clear vision and objective are critical elements to keeping renovation projects on track.

Tip #4: Before starting a renovation project on your hotel, it is a good idea to research the market to ensure that any renovations you do on your hotel will provide a big enough return on your investment.

Tip #5: Lastly, when undergoing a renovation project it is very important to ensure that you, your contractor, and project manager stay focused during the entirety of the renovation.  If you don’t account for your staff and your guests your project could end up being quite disastrous.

Jaguar Hospitality adheres to strict standards of performance and innovation with each and every renovation project. With our cutting-edge strategies, resources, and personnel, we are ready to offer the best in luxury hospitality renovations and project management to ensure an optimally smooth project.

Maximizing Hotel Profits While Renovating

The cost of renovating a hotel can be very expensive, even if you choose the most cost efficient options available to you, so there’s no room for a hotel to lose even more money.  That’s why it’s important for any hotel deciding to undergo a renovation, to ensure that their current guests are happy and comfortable and that any new guests and/or their current operations won’t be disrupted.  Jaguar Hospitality, a Hospitality Renovations and project management company that specializes in maximizing their clients return on their capital investments, would like to present some tips and ideas that will help any hotel and/or hospitality company maximize their profits during a planned or unplanned renovation project.
Tip #1: Keeping your guests happy is key.  A big oversight a lot of hotel owners make during a planned renovation is forgetting about their current guests and any new guests that may take up residence at their hotel.  Obviously hoteliers know that there will be guests during their renovation, but a few of them may forget to take a look at what their guests will be experiencing during the renovation.  So it’s a good idea to ensure that when planning a renovation, you think about ways to ensure that your guests will be comfortable and happy during their stay with your property.  A good way of doing that is ensuring there is no disruption to the HVAC system, and to have a plan in place in case the system does happen to experience a disruption.  A working HVAC system, or rather lack thereof, can be the difference between your guests deciding to come back and refer their friends and family or them putting you on their DO NOT STAY list.  Another good way of making your guests feel at home is to interact with them personally.  Something as simple as making sure that your front desk associates address all of your checked in guests by their name or that every employee they interact with can at least offer advice regarding any entertaining attractions in the area.  Finally, focusing on customer satisfaction is always an important aspect in maximizing your profits.  As long as your guests are satisfied you will always see positive results, however, on the other hand if your guests are unhappy, you can be assured that the negative feedback will be something that can translate into a loss in profits, sometimes quite significantly.
Tip #2: Differentiate your hotel from your competitors by being creative, proactive and productive.  With the many different hotels around, it’s important to make sure your property gives something to your guests that no one else can do.  In 2015, good, original ideas can be hard to come by, so sometimes it’s good to just tweak things a little bit.  For instance, maybe having an earlier check in time then your competitors and/or a later check out time, can be just the boost your hotel needs to put you in the lead.  Furthermore, a renovation project is a great time to get creative with the design of the guest rooms, or even with just the more elite suites (which is a great cost effective solution to jazzing up your hotel without spending a great deal of money).
Tip #3: Happy employees will almost always translate into good profits.  Think about it, your guests interact with just about all of your employees on a daily basis, from the always seen Front Desk Associates, to the rarely seen janitors, every person that works in your hotel will make some form of impact on your guests at one time or another, so it’s best to make sure your employees are on their best behavior at all times, and some of the best ways of doing that is to pay your employees a fair, competitive wage, recognize them for their achievements, and offer them annual enticing incentives that will make them not only want to come to work every day, but will also make them want to put their best foot forwards at all times.

Free WiFi is a Must-Have on Traveler’s list

Jaguar Hospitality knows that for every Hospitality company it’s important to please the guests while maintaining the profits. Our services are created to maintain the hotel and help it advance with new request from the guests.

According to The New York Times, hotel offering free WiFi is starting to become a necessity, rather than an added perk. In addition the company Loews Hotel & Reports exposed that charging for WiFi was one of the biggest complaints of guests during last year.

“The public’s expectation switched from ‘It’s nice when you have Wi-Fi’ to ‘You must have Wi-Fi,’ that evolution is a problem for hotels,” said Max Rayner, a partner at the travel consulting company Hudson Crossing.

Previously some hotel charge fee for WiFi in order to increase the profit margins, but at the moment, free WiFi is expected by guests in every hotel, because travelers are used to have it in restaurants, airports and more. Actually, during 2014 Marriott chains were hit with a $600,000 fine for trying to block personal WiFi hotspots of guest to encourage the use of their own.
